Dark Matter Robotics
Robotic bases for manufacturing, grown out of a lean-to-steer wheelchair.
AI concept imageDark Matter Robotics began as a mobile powered wheelchair steered by leaning, with no joystick, designed to differ from existing chairs while meeting strict cost limits. The team built a working prototype.
The project then turned to robotics in manufacturing, when the team was offered a part in a larger effort to automate laboratory work. Its powered base is now the foundation of its industrial robots.
How ID8Lab helped
ID8 was involved from the first idea, co-developed the project with Adam Bleakney, Head Coach of the Illinois Wheelchair Track Team, and has stayed on as advisor, mentor and investor.
